The Prime Minister added that people should not suffer for the mistakes of partition. Addressing a massive gathering Narendra Modi assured that no no genuine Indian citizen would be left out of the National Register of Citizens of India (NRC).
The Prime Minister’s statement comes at a time when there is a massive opposition to the bill in Assam and across the region.
It may be mentioned, the Joint Parliamentary Committee approved the draft Bill clearing its placement and possible passage in Parliament just a day ahead of the PM’s arrival in Silchar.
Meanwhile, the Prime minister also added that the Centre has decided to implement the Clause 6 of the Assam Accord which was on hold for the past 30-35 years. The Prime Minister said Clause 6 assured protection of the identity and culture of Assamese people.
