Assam: Union Home Minister Amit Shah to hold massive road show in Guwahati on April 29

Home Minister Amit Shah will hold a mega 2-km roadshow in Guwahati as part of the ongoing election campaign for Bijuli Kalita Medhi, BJP’s Guwahati candidate

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be arriving in Assam on April 29 to spearhead the BJP’s ongoing election campaign for Bijuli Kalita Medhi, the party’s candidate for the Guwahati Lok Sabha seat. Shah will hold a mega 2-kilometre roadshow as part of the campaign.

Sharing details of Home Minister Shah’s Assam visit, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “Amit Shah is set to hold a roadshow that will be held from the cycle factory to Lal Ganesh area of Guwahati on April 29.”

BJP dropped its sitting Lok Sabha MP Queen Oja and nominated Bijuli Kalita Medhi for the Guwahati seat.

Medhi, former deputy mayor of Guwahati, is pitted against President of Assam Pradesh Mahila Congress, Mira Barthakur Goswami, Shejon Goyary of Bahujan Maha Party, Samad Choudhury of Bharatiya Gana Parishad, Dipak Kumar Boro of Voters Party International, Amitabh Sarma of Ekam Sanatan Bharat Dal and Independent candidates Kazi Nekib Ahmed and Col (retired) Gokul Chandra Singha.

Voting for the Guwahati seat will take place on May 7, third phase of the Lok Sabha elections. Third phase marks the end of Lok Sabha elections in Assam.

Guwahati is among the 14 Lok Sabha seats from Assam. Along with Guwahati, voting will be held for the Barpeta, Kokrajhar and Dhubri Lok Sabha seats on May 7.

The other Lok Sabha seats of Assam went to polls on April 19 and 26.
Assam recorded 78.25 per cent voter turnout in Phase I and 77.35 per cent in Phase II.
