Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced an ex-gratia of Rs two lakh each for the next of kin of each of the deceased at the tragic stone quarry collapse tragedy
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced an ex-gratia of Rs two lakh each for the next of kin of each of the deceased at the tragic stone quarry collapse tragedy near Maudarh village in south Mizoram’s Hnahthial district on Monday evening.
The Prime Minister also announced an assistance of Rs 50,000 for each of the injured in the tragedy. The money is being given from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF).
The PM who is currently in Bali attending the G20 Summit expressed grief over the sad demise of the workers and said in a tweet, “My thoughts are with those who lost their loved ones due to the tragic stone quarry collapse in Mizoram. An ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh would be given from PMNRF to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given Rs 50,000”.
So far 10 of the 12 bodies have been found.
Search and rescue operations are on to find the remaining two people feared dead.
Twelve workers were buried alive at the stone quarry site on Monday evening when the stone quarry caved in and buried them.

All of them were working as excavator operators at the site. They were employed by Anupam Bricks and Concrete Industries Limited or ABCIL.
The company is engaged in the construction and widening of National Highway No 54 between Hnahthial town and Zobawk village sector in Mizoram.
