Mizoram: First ever civic poll for Lunglei Municipal Council ends peacefully

Lunglei Municipal Council has 11 wards including four wards reserved for women. There are 42 candidates are in the fray

First civic polls for Lunglei Municipal Council was held at 44 polling stations in Lunglei Municipality area today. As of 4 pm, 29,456 votes (male – 13,670, female – 15,786) 72.64% have been cast. Polling at the Luangmual polling station continued till late due to EVM problem.

The election was held in a peaceful atmosphere with no law and order incident.

Lunglei Municipal Council has 11 wards including four wards reserved for women. There are 42 candidates in the LMC election.

Lunglei Municipal Council Final Electoral Roll released on October 14, 2022 was used for the election. The Electoral Roll has 40,548 voters, 19,123 male electors and 21,245 female electors.

Counting of votes will be held on April 3, 2023 (Tuesday) at Saikuti Hall from 10:00 am.
