Mizoram: Common uniform for govt school students from April 2023

Each school authority is at liberty to choose the school’s badges, neckties, t-shirts, cardigans/blazers, belts and socks

Students of government-run schools in Mizoram would wear a common uniform from the new academic session commencing in early April, a senior state school education department official said. Apart from the government schools, students of Adhoc-aided schools would also introduce the common school uniform, he said.

Neither the state government nor the school education department would involve in the procurement of materials for common school uniforms. Each school authority is at liberty to choose the school’s badges, neckties, t-shirts, cardigans/blazers, belts, and socks.

The primary school students would wear short-sleeved white shirts and blue pants/skirts while middle school students would wear white short-sleeved shirts and grey pants/skirts. High School and Higher Secondary School students would wear black pants/skirts and long-sleeved white shirts.

As the state government is not going to involve in the procurement and distribution of the common uniform materials, the school authorities have been authorized to do so. School education officials also said that parents would spend less money even if they change the schools of their children due to migration or transfer of the parents as they can use the same uniforms wherever they go.
