Two new ministers were sworn in into the Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal’s cabinet.
Mahmora MLA Jogen Mohan and Tinsukia MLA Sanjay Kishan were administered oath of office at the Raj Bhawan by Governor Jagdish Mukhi.
Both Jogen Mohan and Sanjay Kishan have been reportedly inducted after 2 berths fell vacant following the election of Tapan Gogoi and Pallab Lochan Das to the Lok Sabha.
Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, finance and health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma besides other ministers and MLAs were present in the swearing in ceremony.
However, the newly inducted ministers have not been allocated any portfolio so far.
In the oath-taking ceremony in May 2016, the Cabinet was formed with eleven members, including the Chief Minister. The second expansion saw the induction of seven more faces in 2019.
However, one more berth is still vacant in the Sonowal cabinet with the full strength being 19, including the Chief Minister.
