The incident occurred at Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University, a state university in UP's Jaunpur.

Four DPharma (Diploma in Pharmacy) students at the Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University, in UP’s Jaunpur wrote nothing but “Jai Shri Ram pass ho jaayein” (Glory to Lord Ram, may we pass) and the names of some famous cricketers and scored 50% marks in an exam held recently.

According to reports, the students wrote the names of cricketers like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya and other cricketers. Shockingly, these students passed with 56 per cent marks. Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University is a state university .

According to a report by The Times of India, the incident came to light after a former student of the university filed a Right To Information (RTI) questioning marking of answer sheets of the four students and lodged a complaint with the office of the Governor, who is the University’s Chancellor.

The student sought a re-evaluation of the answer sheets by providing roll numbers of the students.

The RTI response has prompted a probe and re-examination that led to the four students getting zero marks.

The University’s Vice Chancellor Vandana Singh confirmed the recommendation to dismiss the Professors, for their involvement in the erroneous evaluation process, once Governor Anandiben Patel approves the action as Chancellor.
