A 15-year-old boy from Guwahati is feared to have drowned in the Brahmaputra River at Sukreswar Ghat while taking a bath along with his friends.
The boy has been identified as Zahid Ahmed, a resident of Guwahati’s Birubari.
As per inputs, Zahid Ahmed along with his five friends went to the river to take a bath amidst the scorching heat conditions in the city yesterday evening.
They are said to have taken a deep dive when Zahid disappeared into the deep waters.
On receiving information about the incident, a joint team of river police and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel rushed to the scene to locate Zahid, however, due to the darkness they had to halt the search operation yesterday.
The team resumed the search operation this morning. But there has been no trace of the missing boy.
