Normal trade can only resume after end of Myanmar civil war; says Mizoram Commerce minister

In a written reply to a query by Mizo National Front (MNF) MLA C. Lalawmpuia, the minister said that conduct of border trade with Myanmar through Zokhawthar Land Customs Station

Mizoram commerce and industries minister R. Lalthangliana today informed the state assembly that normal border trade along the international border with Myanmar can only resume after the civil war in the neighbouring ends.

In a written reply to a query by Mizo National Front (MNF) MLA C. Lalawmpuia, the minister said that conduct of border trade with Myanmar through Zokhawthar Land Customs Station is not a state subject and the authorization has to be from the Government of India.

Lalthangliana informed the House that normal border trade through Zokhawthar can be commenced once the civil war in Myanmar ends and conducive atmosphere for normal trade returns to the neighboring country.
