Assam Cong General Secretary Apurba Kumar Bhattacharjee resigns from post

Earlier on January 7, Bhattacharjee said that he was ready to “pack his bags” in a post on his official X handle.

Assam Congress General Secretary, Apurba Kumar Bhattacharjee has stepped down from his post today, expressing displeasure with the central leadership.

Bhattacharjee has also resigned from all other posts that he held in the party.

Addressing the media today in Guwahati, Bhattacharjee said despite his loyalty and services to the party, he has been deprived.
“ When the party started to distance me from party-related activities I realized that the time has come to make a decision. Based on that I am resigning from all the posts I hold in the Bharatiya Jatia Congress, effective from today,” Bhattacharjee said.
He added that he has submitted his resignation letter to the concerned authorities in writing and that from today he will no longer have any links to the Bharatiya Jatia Congress.
Earlier on January 7, Bhattacharjee said that he was ready to “pack his bags” in a post on his official X handle.
“Respected @JitendraSAlwar Sir.After watching the list I have decided to stopped my all activities as I’m not qualified for a member. Ready to packed my luggage. Regards,” he wrote.

With Lok Sabha elections on the horizon, the move is expected to impact Congress’ hopes of a strong performance in Assam.
