The all-crucial special one-day session of the Nagaland Assembly will be held today. The House is set to adopt a unanimous resolution for repeal of the Armed Forces Special Powers

The all-crucial special one-day session of the Nagaland Assembly will be held today.

The House is set to adopt a unanimous resolution for repeal of the Armed Forces Special Powers (AFSPA) Act during the 1-day session.

The emergent session was reportedly convened against the backdrop of massive public outcry demanding the removal of the AFSPA from Nagaland following the Mon firing incident.

It is to be noted that ahead of the crucial session, the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) has lashed out at Congress for making big allegations against Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and the Nagaland Government.

Speaking to  Northeast Live NDPP spokesperson Merentoshi Jamir lashed out at the Congress stating that at a time when the entire state was still mourning the loss of precious lives in Mon, the Congress was indulging in petty politics.

The NDPP said that the allegations of Congress were shocking, to say the least.
It may be mentioned that Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) president K Therie during a press briefing in Dimapur had alleged that the Nagaland Government and CM Rio were fully aware of the movement of the paratroopers in the state.

He also alleged that CM Rio does not want a solution to the Peace Talks.

That said, all eyes are now set on this all-important Nagaland Assembly Session.
