NEC Meet to Finalise 5-point Framework for Northeast Development

A CMs’ task force will be formed for overall growth and development of the region, sources told Northeast Live

The Northeastern Council (NEC), currently having its 72nd plenary meeting in Agartala, is likely to finalise a 5-point framework for the development of northeast and will constitute a CMs’ task force to bring about overall progress and growth of the region, sources told Northeast Live.

The meeting to be chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the 2nd day tomorrow, will also finalise the NEC’s annual plan for the current year, besides drawing up a detailed roadmap for the proposed Northeast Investors Summit.

At the initiative of DoNER ministry, under which NEC functions, an Asthalakshmi Mahotsav is being planned and the meeting is going to see a presentation on this.

Apart from the Union Home Minister, who is the chairman of NEC, DoNER minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, who is the NEC Vice Chairman, will also be present at tomorrow’s meeting where CMs and Governors of all the northeastern states are going to deliver their addresses highlighting the focus areas for development of their respective states that requires the support of DoNER and NEC.

Today, the first day of the meeting has just begun. A presentation is being made on National Palm Oil Mission and leveraging northeast for boosting palm oil production.

The NEC meeting is also focussing on unelectrified villages in the region and is laying emphasis on opening bank branches in uncovered villages.
