The case involves the recovery of an AK-47 rifle and other prohibited weapons being smuggled from Nagaland and other Northeastern states.

The National Investigative Agency (NIA) on Wednesday conducted raids on 17 locations in Nagaland and 3 other states–Bihar, Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir in connection with an inter-state weapons trafficking case.

According to officials, searches were carried out at the premises of 15 accused or suspects across 12 locations in Bihar, 3 in Nagaland, 1 in Haryana, and 1 in Jammu and Kashmir.

The NIA said that the 11 suspects whose premises were searched were linked with previously arrested and charge-sheeted four accused in the weapons trafficking case.

A .315 rifle, 11 rounds of ammunition, 3 empty cartridges, and various digital devices such as mobile phones, memory cards, and pen drives were recovered during the searches.

Additionally, raw materials and tools suspected to be used in firearm manufacturing were found. A car and cash Rs. 13,94,840 were also seized, along with other incriminating documents, officials stated.

The case involves the recovery of an AK-47 rifle and other prohibited weapons being smuggled from Nagaland and other Northeastern states.

Bihar was being used both as a transit route for further smuggling to other states and as a destination for the smuggled prohibited weapons.

Investigations in the case have so far revealed that the accused were engaged in arms smuggling activities over the past several years.

The NIA is continuing with its probe into the matter.
