Reacting to Zubeen Garg's remarks, AJP has taken the legal route and filed an FIR against Zubeen at the Morigaon Police Station
Assam’s heartthrob Zubeen Garg landed in yet another controversy on Monday by calling the regional party, Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) ‘nonsensical’. He called the party ‘fotuwa’ (nonsensical) while attending an event at Cotton University in Guwahati.
“I won’t take any leadership, as I am not into politics. I am not a supporter of BJP, Congress, AGP and the newly formed fotuwa party Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP). I work for people. I am a social Leftist”, said Zubeen Garg responding to a question about his take on the political parties.
Assam Jatiya Parishad has taken the legal route and filed an FIR against the popular singer at the Morigaon Police Station. AJP leader Nazrul Hussain who filed the FIR today, gave a strong warning to the singer in the FIR.
“Yesterday attending an event, singer Zubeen Garg should not have used such unlawful words against the party, we gave a strict warning to him that he should not use such words”, added Nazrul Hussain.
Retorting strongly to Zubeen’s remark, AJP chief Lurin Jyoti Gogoi said the party has never worked for certification, and that the AJP’s goal is to safeguard the rights of the people of Assam.
“We never worked to get any certificate, we never asked anyone to give us a certificate for our work,” said Lurin Jyoti Gogoi.
AJP Vice President Dulu Ahmed slammed Zubeen over his remark on the party and called him 420 usually used to refer to someone who is useless. “Let me tell you about the 420 artist. Which artist uses such obscene language on a Bihu stage? Which artist uses the money of the BJP to be transported to Guwahati from Dibrugarh pretending to be sick? The people of Assam are starting to be aware of the opportunistic artist like him,” Ahmed lashed out at Garg.
Assam cabinet minister and BJP leader Pijush Hazarika, without speaking much on the controversial statement made by Zubeen Garg, said that the AJP has lost its trust as the party allegedly played with the emotions of the people.
“I don’t know in what context Zubeen Garg gave those remarks, but I would say the party allegedly misled the people’s emotions and formed the party to come into politics,” added Pijush Hazarika.
