With 2,796 positive cases detected out of 61,318 tests conducted in last 24 hours, the COVID-19 tally in Assam has reached 71,795 on Thursday.
Among the fresh cases, 418 cases have been reported from Kamrup (M), 307 are from Cachar, 248 from Kamrup (R) and 207 cases have been detected in Dibrugarh.
The active cases count in the state now stands at 22,240.
Taking to Twitter, Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed, “2,796 COVID cases detected out of 61,318 tests done in last 24 hours.”
The health minister further added that the positivity rate in the state is at 4.55 per cent.
On the other hand, the number of recovered patients in Assam has reached 49,383 with the discharge of 2,174 more patients today from different hospitals and Covid care centres in the state.
Meanwhile, eight more persons succumbed have succumbed to the virus during the day, taking the overall death toll to 169.
The state on Wednesday recorded the highest ever single-day spike in coronavirus infection with 4,593 new cases detected out of a record 1,43,109 tests in one day, taking the total number of tests carried out so far to 15,73,800.
