Arm wrestlers from Nagaland-Vethozo Lohe and Avilie Zuyie to represent India at World Arm Wrestling Championships in Malaysia

Two arm wrestlers from Nagaland– Vethozo Lohe and Avilie Zuyie will represent India at the World Arm Wrestling Championships to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from September 25 to October 1, 2023.

The duo will be representing India at the Championship under the aegis of the Board of Control for Armwrestling in India (BCAI). They will be leaving for Malaysia on September 24.

19-year-old Vethozo Lohe hails from Khutsokhuno village in Tizu under Phek district of Nagaland. Earlier, Lohe earned three gold medals and was acclaimed overall Junior Champion at the BCAI National Arm Wrestling Championships in 2022.

He also won Gold medals at the Phek District Sports Association (PDSA) meet held in Thenyizu village in 2021 and at 6th edition of Nagaland Street Fitness 2021 held in Kohima.

Avilie Zuyie, who hails from Kohima has won a gold medal for right-handed and a silver medal for left-handed in the youth category of the 3rd National Arm Wrestling Championships held at the Ramee Guestline Hotel, Bangalore, Karnataka in May 2022.

There will be 51 athletes from all over India competing at the IFA Championship.

Arm wrestler Onam Gamno, hailing from Ngopok village in East Siang District of Arunachal Pradesh, is all set to represent India at the Championship.

Speaking on her preparedness, Onam said that she is preparing well to represent India at the World Armwrestling Championship.

The 24-year-old arm wrestler recently won two gold medals in both right and left hand under 52kg categories at the national championship under the Board of Control for Armwrestling in India (BCAI) in Bangalore in May this year.

Based on her achievement, she has been selected to represent India at the World Armwrestling Championship in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
