At a time when Mizoram and Assam are currently at loggerheads over boundary issues, the people of Mizoram have set an example for the entire world that despite all differences, humanity always comes first.
Despite border tensions escalating between Assam and Mizoram, the Mizoram government and Civil Society organizations are giving food and shelter to truckers coming from various states including Assam who are stranded on the National Highway while transporting commodities.
Kolasib DC, Dr. H Lalthlangliana said that the government gave shelter to stranded drivers at schools in Kolasib town and Kawnpui village along the national highway, and volunteers of Young Mizo Association provided them with food.
The Kolasib DC also said that the Mizo people being a peace-loving community is unable to hate their fellow human beings despite the ongoing scuffle over boundary issues which he termed as completely a matter between two state governments.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Zoramthanga has lauded the stellar act of kindness shown by the Mizo people.
“With illegitimate miscreants threatening to intensify their economic blockade over #Mizoram, this is what the #Peace loving Mizos are doing right now; feeding innocent and stranded non-mizos in addition to protecting whats rightfully ours,” the Chief Minister tweeted.
