Opposition Presidential Candidate Yashwant Sinha set to visit Assam

Yashwant Sinha, during his crucial visit to Assam, will be reaching out to political parties for support in the Presidential race.

With just about 5 days left for the crucial presidential polls, candidates of both the NDA as well as opposition is leaving no stone unturned to garner support. After Draupadi Murmu, the opposition Presidential candidate is all set to visit Assam on Wednesday.

Yashwant Sinha, during his crucial visit to Assam, will be reaching out to political parties for support in the Presidential race. During his visit, Sinha will be meeting AIUDF MLAs at 2 PM at a city hotel.

Following this, he will be attending a special meeting at the Srimanta Shankardev Kalakshetra convened by the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee. The meeting will be attended by Congress MLAs, MPs, CPM, and Raijor Dol leaders.

Sinha will also be meeting the TMC leaders at the party office in Guwahati today.

In this regard, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that Sinha is always welcome in Assam. He said that the opposition candidate also has the right to visit the state. He further said that the ruling BJP has no problem if a candidate of the opposition camp visits Assam for campaigning.

Meanwhile, ballot boxes for the presidential polls have already arrived in Guwahati from Delhi. The ballot boxes have been brought in a special aircraft, ahead of the presidential polls slated to be held on July 18.

The ballot boxes were taken to the Assam Assembly premises amid tight security.

Moreover, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma held a meeting with MDA partners to discuss the process for the casting of votes for the upcoming Presidential Elections 2022. Taking to Twitter the Chief Minister announced MDA’s support in favor of Draupadi Murmu as the next President of India.
