The Nagaland University Students Union, of the Kohima Campus along with MA 3rd semester students and 2016-17 passed out students today gathered outside the Directorate of Higher Education to seek clarification on the delay of their scholarships.
The NUSU speaking to NorthEast Live said that the University had submitted Annexure IV, containing the list of students for scholarship of 8 departments.
However, the Department of Directorate of Higher Education claimed that they had received the Annexure of only the English department.
The NUSU headed by their President along with some executives sat for a meeting with the higher education officials today where the student body was made aware of the circumstances.
The official from the University who had submitted the Annexure 4 both in hard and soft copy as said by the NUSU President is on leave and both parties have agreed to wait for the official to return.
In the mean time the Department of Higher Education said that they will re-verify all the documents and if there has been any mistake or an issue which has been overlooked by the Department then they will set a proposal to the State Govt for additional fund to be given to the beneficiaries.
Meanwhile, the gathering of the NUSU in the streets had alerted the police who came with all barricades and security forces.
