Assam hospital shocker: Nurse burns infant’s face while heating oil

In a shocking incident, a newborn baby suffered severe burn injuries on the face, neck and hand after hot oil spilled on the infant in an Assam hospital.

The baby had to suffer because of the utter carelessness of a nurse at the Mangaldoi Civil Hospital in Assam.

Thenewborn’s face has been partially burnt, doctors said.

A nurse working in the hospital’s special baby care unit was heating oil and a few drops fell onto the infant’s face, neck and hand.

The baby was born to a woman named Bidhangshri Rabha on December 4, 2022.

The one-week-old baby is now being treated for burn injuries at the hospital.

The nurse was heating the oil to apply it on the baby’s umbilical cord stump that had dried out.

The parents of the infant alleged that the nurse was pressurising them to hide the matter.

A large crowd had gathered in front of the hospital following the incident.
