According to sources, the incident occurred at Boys Hostel-7 at around 7.30 pm yesterday.

According to eyewitnesses, the students first verbally abused the mess workers and then physically assaulted them. Additionally, they caused damage to the hostel’s mess area by throwing dishes and cookware on the floor.

The reason behind their violence is not known yet.

No case has been filed in the matter yet, however, the institute authorities have formed a committee to look into the matter, said sources.

Earlier, in July last year, a group of students brutally thrashed three cooks on suspicion of mobile theft. The incident occurred at Hostel No. 9 of the Institute.

The administration had rusticated four students from the institute for a year, and a fine of Rs 10,000 each was imposed against 12 students.
