Mizoram police seized heroin worth Rs 14 crore, 1 arrested

In a successful operation against the war on drugs, Mizoram Police seized 249 soap cases of Herion, weighing 2.853 kgs, valued at Rs 14 crore in the international market on Monday.
Acting on a specific input, Mizoram Police intercepted a vehicle (taxi), at the Khankawn police check gate along the Mizoram-Myanmar border in Champhai district, said the Mizoram police.
A car, loaded with the contraband item was stopped and intervened at the check gate. However, the driver and his fellow passenger managed to escape and flee into the jungle, taking the advantage of the night, informed the Mizoram police.
Later, one of the accused identified as Farook Hosen (37) of Sepahijala district in Tripura, was arrested by the Champhai Police on Tuesday.
“Big haul of #Heroin from a resident of #Tripura. Last night, #ChamphaiPolice on duty at Chalbawiha Junction Khankawn Police Check gate seized 2.853 Kgs (249 soap cases) of heroin, valued over ₹14 Crores in international market from one car with no registration number. During checking of the said vehicle, the driver and his passenger fled away from the spot into the jungle taking advantage of the night. However, one of the absconding accused Farook Hosen (37) s/o Abdul Hashem of Bhola Mura, Sepahijala District, Tripura was promptly apprehended and arrested today by #ChamphaiPolice. Diligent investigation and search to arrest the other absconding accused is still in progress. Champhai PS case u/s 21(c)/25/29 ND&PS Act has been registered for further investigation on backward & forward linkages. Outstanding job, Team #Champhai.” tweets Mizoram Police.

A case was registered under section 21(c) and 29 ND & PS Act (The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance Act) for further investigation on backward & forward linkages, the police said.
