The health condition of former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has deteriorated further on Monday morning and is in an extremely critical state. Doctors are doing everything they can and he needs divine intervention, stated Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

The health minister along with his wife and two children visited the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) today to take stock of the senior Congress leader’s health.

Speaking to the media Sarma said, “The present status of Gogoi is very very critical and doctors are doing their best. He is still breathing with 100% ventilation support.  His vital organs aren’t functioning. Everything is in God’s hand.  He needs people’s prayers.”

Earlier today, GMCH Superintendent Abhijit Sarma said the former Chief Minister is still in critical condition and on full ventilator support.

“A team of doctors is continuously monitoring the health condition of Gogoi. We are doing whatever is possible from our end. The doctor’s team is closely monitoring him,” Abhijit Sarma said.
