The deadlock in the Naga peace talks still continues as the contest over flag and constitution between the NSCN-IM and Government of India remains unresolved.

Speaking exclusively to Northeast Live, Naga Hoho General Secretary Elu Ndang said that the Naga people are waiting for a move by the government of India, and that it needs to be seen whether government is having a mind to abrogate the ceasefire with the NSCN-IM and go along with the 7 NNPGs signing the agreement or if it is looking for lasting peace.

Elu Ndang also said that the NSCN-IM is firm on their demand of a flag and constitution whereas the NNPGs are willing to sign the agreement and at the same time Government of India is not clear on their stand.

“We are all in a very tight situation now and there are two school of thoughts. The NSCN-IM is saying that without flag and constitution there cannot be any lasting solution whereas the NNPGs are willing to sign the agreement and at the same time GoI is not clear,” said Ndang.

Elu Ndang further added that everybody needs to work collectively for an inclusive solution of the naga issue and that once all heads are put together there will be a lasting solution.
