The Nagaland government has expressed its willingness to resolve these issues and find a path toward lasting peace in the state.

Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, along with Deputy Chief Ministers Y. Patton and T.R. Zeliang, is scheduled to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah this evening in New Delhi. The agenda of the meeting is said to be the NSCN-IM issue and the ENPO’s demand for a Frontier Nagaland Territory, sources told Northeast Live.

The meeting supposed to be held in the residence of the Union Home Minister.
Deputy CM T.R. Zeliang, on November 16, stated, “During the meeting with the Home Minister, we will stress the need to elevate the Naga peace talks to a political level rather than limiting it to the bureaucratic level. We will also engage with the interlocutor.”

Sources said the Nagaland cabinet has decided to push for the early formation of the Frontier Nagaland Territory, which was demanded by Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO).

The National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Isak-Muivah (NSCN-IM) has long been advocating for a separate Naga flag and constitution. These demands were reiterated by NSCN-IM General Secretary Th. Muivah in a statement on November 7.

While the demands for the flag and constitution are not new, Muivah highlighted the need for third-party intervention to ensure the 2015 Framework Agreement is honored in both letter and spirit.

This high-level meeting comes in the wake of these recent developments. The Nagaland government has expressed its willingness to resolve these issues and find a path toward lasting peace in the state.
