Three Bangladeshis are understood to have made it to the National Register of Citizens or NRC in Assam.
It is despite the fact that the Morigaon foreigners tribunal had declared these people – a mother, her son and daughter as foreigners way back in 2016.
Assam Public Works (APW), a Guwahati-based NGO, has lodged an FIR with Assam Police against inclusion of three alleged Bangladeshis in the citizens list.
The FIR stated that Jubeda Begum, Md Jahur Ali and Sahida Begum of Mikirbheta village in Morigaon district managed to get their names included despite being declared as illegal foreigners by the Foreigners Tribunal.
The APW has also sought an inquiry against the in-charge of the NRC Seva Kendra (NSK) that received their documents and the circle officer and deputy commissioner of Morigaon who were part of the team that scrutinized their documents. APW has further urged the Assam Police to investigate the matter.
