At a time when the NSCN-IM is engaged in serious discussion with the Government of India, the Working Committee of the NNPGs has lashed out at it on multiple issues.
In a strongly worded statement, the NNPGs have slammed the NSCN-IM accusing it of opposing the Registration of Indigenous inhabitants of Nagaland or RIIN and selling the Naga integration formula. In a statement issued the NNPGs also slammed the alleged yes-men mindset of the Nagas from Nagaland within the NSCN-IM fold. Not only this, In a big attack on Nagaland CM Neiphiu Rio, the NNPGs also asked as to who was running the Nagaland government even.
In an apparent display of discord with the NSCN-IM, the NNPGs stated that Manipur Nagas in IM is not letting the Nagaland government count the number of babies born since Nagaland attained statehood or in other words are opposing the Registration of Indigenous Inhabitants of Nagaland.
The WC, and NNPGs while asking as to who is running the government said that on August 23rd Manipur Naga leaders of IM expressed their opposition to RIIN and termed it as acting against the social and political interest of Nagas. The NNPGs said that such intrusive statements destroy people-to-people bonding adding that uttering a word against RIIN implementation is not their business and is also against Naga tradition to comment on another family or clan’s decision on land and membership.
The NNPGs said that the NSCN-IM should question 8 Manipur Naga MLAs demanding NRC along with the valley MLAs. Let IM leaders handle the Manipur Naga problem and Nagaland will take care of itself, the NNPGs said.
The NNPGs also slammed the Nagaland Nagas within the NSCN-IM questioning what it termed as their abject slave mentality. The NNPGs also took strong exception to the decision of the NSCN-IM to allegedly go back on the joint declaration of January 2023 which was a follow-up of the September concordant.
The NNPGs also raised several issues related to the Manipur unrest which it felt may have an implication on Naga integration.
