29 Myanmar Army officials flown out of Mizoram

29 Myanmar army soldiers who had crossed over to India and surrendered to Mizoram Police on November 16 have been airlifted out of the state.

The 29 Myanmar army soldiers who first surrendered to Mizoram police on November 16 at Saikhumphai, Vaphai were handed over to the Assam Rifles on the same day. After several attempts to evacuate them failed due to bad weather, they were finally air lifted out by IAF choppers to Manipur, and is believed they will be taken back to Myanmar by Myanmar Army from there.
The 29 Myanmar army soldiers had crossed over to Mizoram after their camp at Tuibual were taken by the CNA and CDF allied cadres on November 15.
On November 14, 40 Military personnel from the conflict torn country, who had crossed over to Zokhawthar in Mizoram, were flown back to Tamu in Myanmar across Moreh in Manipur by Indian Air Force helicopters. The Myanmar Army personnel had entered Mizoram on November 13.
Just like Moreh in Manipur lies along the international border, Tamu is the border town on the Myanmar side.
Indian Air Force’s MI 17 helicopters were used for transporting the Myanmar Army personnel from the Hnahlan helipad in Champhai to Tamu. Among those who had entered India were 2 officers of the Myanmar Army and 38 soldiers and other ranks.
