Spicejet resumed it's services after it had suspended operations citing operational requirements.
Nearly 4 months left without air connectivity, flight services resumed at the Greenfield Airport Pakyong in Sikkim today. Spicejet resumed it’s services after it had suspended operations citing operational requirements.
A Spicejet flight with 43 passengers onboard took off for the national capital at 12:30 PM this afternoon after the services resumed. Regular flight services between Pakyong to Delhi will however begin from March 26.
It may be mentioned that SpiceJet had decided to suspend operations in October last year to Sikkim’s Pakyong Airport, citing operational requirements.
As per reports, the Spicejet authorities in a letter to the Director of Pakyong Airport, had stated, “SpiceJet has decided to suspend operations out of Pakyong from 30th October 2022 till further notice. This is due to operation requirements.”
Pakyong Airport, which serves state capital Gangtok and the rest of Sikkim, is one of the highest airports in India.
Besides, it is also a strategically important airport since it is located about 60 km from the India-China border, and became the 100th operational airport in India.
