Sikkim: Tsomgo lake reopens for tourists

Passes are being issued for Tsomgo Lake and Nathula for the tourists and locals. The tourists can now travel to Tsomgo Lake and upto till Baba Mandir and Nathula.

The Tsomgo Lake in Sikkim, has finally opened for tourists after one of the most favoured tourist destinations in the Himalayan state was hit by heavy snowfall on Saturday.

Passes are being issued for Tsomgo Lake and Nathula for the tourists and locals. The tourists can now travel to Tsomgo Lake and upto till Baba Mandir and Nathula.

Earlier, the army had rescued about 370 tourists including 50 children who were stranded due to heavy snowfall in East Sikkim. As per inputs, the Army rescued them within 5 hours of getting stuck on Saturday evening.

As per sources, heavy snowfall at Nathu La and Tsomgo lake had led to about a hundred vehicles and 400 tourists being stranded in the area on Saturday (March 11).
