The 3-member member committee set up by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) will be holding talks with apex bodies representing Eastern Nagaland
A solution to the growing demand for the creation of a Frontier Nagaland by the 7 tribes of Eastern most part of Nagaland can be expected soon. This indeed is a significant development after a 11-member ENPO (Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation) talk team met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on December 8, who than assured the delegation of looking into the matter.
The 3-member member committee set up by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) will be holding talks with apex bodies representing Eastern Nagaland, during it’s visit. During the 3-day visit, the central team will be holding talks with the ENPO leaders, state government officials, seven tribal bodies, Eastern Nagaland Women’s Organisation, Eastern Nagaland Students Federation, village chiefs and senior citizens.
As per available information, the Committee will be meeting the ENPO Talk Team and memorandum signatories later in the evening today. The committee will also talk to the representatives of the 7 tribes tomorrow followed by a meeting with the ENWO and ENSF. Besides, deliberations will also take place between the Central Committee and the Gaon Buras, Dobashi and senior citizens.
It may be mentioned that the ENPO after meeting Home Minister Amit Shah had said that the latter highlighted “a clear road map for an amicable, legislative and sustainable solution for eastern Nagaland”, which will include consultation with the people of the region and the state government.
A central committee headed by the adviser (North East) A.K. Mishra along with two members — Dr Mandeep Singh, Joint Director, Intelligence Bureau and A.K. Dhayani, Director, (North East Division, MHA).
In support of their demand of the creation of ‘Frontier Nagaland’ seven tribes of eastern Nagaland rejected the state government’s appeal and boycotted the 10-day long famous ‘Hornbill Festival.
The Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO) told Northeast Live that a meeting of its members would be held on December 19 to firm up the Organisation’s strategy and forward plan amid its demand for a separate state – Frontier Nagaland and ahead of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit next month.
“We are holding a decisive meeting on December 19. After this meeting we will be much clear on our steps going forward and our next course of action,” a top ENPO member said.
