The MNF National Core Committee and Political Affairs Committee today rejected the resignation of party chief Zoramthanga.

Zoramthanga had taken moral responsibility for the big loss of the party in the just concluded Assembly elections and tendered his resignation. However, the Committee in their Joint meeting stated that the loss of the party in the election is not the lone responsibility of it’s party president Zoramthanga.

The Core Committee and Political Affairs Committee stated that they would not accept the resignation and want Zoramthanga to continue in his post as party President. Zoramthanga was seeking a 4th term as the Chief Minister, but his hopes dashed as the MNF was totally decimated to 10 seats from 27 seats it had won in the 2018 elections.

Zoramthanga too lost his home turf-Aizawl East I by a margin of over 2000 votes to ZPM’s Lalthansanga.
