Amid the prevailing crisis situation, the Manipur BJP today said that the entire issue must not be politicized
The Manipur BJP today hit out at the Congress after the grand old party termed the entire series of events surrounding N Biren Singh’s proposed resignation as a ‘drama’.
BJP MLA K Saratchandra said, “They are terming it as drama. But we could not move ahead as citizens of the state did not want the CM to resign. We have already told the people as to whether it was a drama or not. We said them that we will do whatever they wanted.”
The BJP MLA also responded to reports suggesting that there is a discontent as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is yet to make any official statement on the Manipur turmoil.
K Saratchandra in his response said, “The Union Home Minister is the competent authority as far as internal security is concerned and he is working under the guidance of PM Modi. Home Minister Shah stayed here for 4 days and worked here. For 25 days Union MoS Home was also here and attempts were made to restore peace. Are all these possible without the intervention of the Prime Minister?”
Another BJP MLA Usham Deben Singh also launched a scathing attack on the Congress. He said, “This is not a drama. The nature of the Congress is that they do not want peace to prevail. BJP is fully seeking to bring peace, but Congress is working to create crisis.”
Manipur BJP president A Sharda Devi reacting to the statements made by the Congress regarding Rahul Gandhi’s visit to the state. The Manipur BJP president said, “In the current situation, I appreciate Rahul Gandhi’s visit to the state. However, the focus should be on solving the situation and bringing back peace. The issue should not be politicised.”
