Manipur to get Sainik School exclusively for girls: CM Biren Singh

The area for the construction of the school has been identified in the Bishnupur district, said CM Biren Singh
In a significant step towards women’s empowerment, Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh today announced that a Sainik School exclusively for girls will be established in Manipur.
Speaking exclusively to Northeast Live, CM Biren Singh said, “The state government has decided to establish one more Sainik School, particularly for girls so that we can import women into the Army.”
CM Biren Singh said that the step has been taken under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has also given his approval.
Chief Minister Biren Singh further said that the area for the construction of the school has been identified in the Bishnupur district and the target is set to complete construction and operate the school within 1-2 years.
He has also highlighted that the Indian army has one of the highest enrollment rates per capita and has praised the Northeast, particularly Manipur, for its contributions to nation-building.
