In a unique gesture and to empathize and show compassion to the internally displaced persons who are sheltered at relief camps in Churachandpur district of Manipur, Deputy Commissioner of Churachandpur Dharun Kumar accompanied by Additional DC Thangboi Gangte spent a night with the IDPs on Tuesday at a relief camp at Old Gelmol village, located in the outskirts of the town.

Awestruck by the gesture, inmates of the camp, volunteers who look after the camp and the village authority expressed their deep appreciation and gratitude to the DC and the Addl DC for their compassionate gesture.

I wanted to encourage open communication and feedback from the relief camp inmates listening to their concerns and suggestions to make improvements” DC Dharun Kumar said.

“We are not just providing immediate relief but also supporting the recovery and rehabilitation of the affected families. He also assured all the inmates that the situation was being monitored and would provide support and work towards full recovery until they could return to their homes.
