According to sources, the father tried to get his wife abort the child

In a shocking incident reported from Bajali in Assam, a father reportedly killed his 11-day-old daughter as he was unable to bear the expenses.

According to sources, the father attempted to get the child aborted when his wife was seven months pregnant.

Reportedly, the family’s gynaecologist, Dr Diganta Chaudhury, advised against the abortion, suggesting instead that the child could be given a chance at life by being placed in the care of a family unable to conceive. The parents initially agreed to this alternative, and the mother gave birth to the child.

Later, the accused tried to sell the child to an individual named Rahul Chaudhury but the accused’s brother-in-law intervened, urging him not to pursue this course of action and offering to share the financial responsibilities of raising the child. Despite the brother-in-law’s proposal, the father refused, citing his existing familial responsibilities, and proposed that the child be kept with his brother-in-law for three years.

On Friday, the father allegedly took the life of his own daughter and buried her along the banks of a nearby river.

The father has been arrested.
