Nayanjyoti Saikia wins MasterChef India 7; Santa Sarmah declared 1st runner up

It was a big win or rather big wins at the MasterChef Season 7 as Nayanjyoti Saikia (23) from Tinsukia district won the title and Santa Sarmah, also from Assam, was declared the first Runner Up.
After a nail biting performance, Nayanjyoti took home the MasterChef India winner’s trophy, along with a cheque of Rs 25 lakh.
Assam’s Santa Sarmah, who was the first runner-up, and Suvarna Bagul from Mumbai, the second runner-up, received a check for Rs 5 lakh each.
MasterChef Season 7 is one of India’s popular cooking reality show.
Chef Sanjeev Kapoor evaluated the three finalists in the “signature three-course meal challenge” at the MasterChef India grand finale alongside the judges, Chefs Ranveer Brar, Vikas Khanna, and Garima Arora.
Nayanjyoti triumphed in the final assessment. He, along with the two runners-up, also received medals from the Managing Director of Amul Jayen Mehta.
Nayanjyoti Saikia works in a tea garden and has been enjoying cooking since his childhood days. He started his cooking journey by making desserts as he had a deep inclination towards cakes since his childhood days. Saikia’s favorite savory dish is Pasta. Through self-learning methods and references from online cooking channels, Saikia upgraded his skills in professional cooking.

Khanna found him through his Instagram page and paid him a visit at his home and sampled the youngster’s culinary creation.
Santa Sarmah (36) is a homemaker from Tezpur who is presently residing in Nagaon had started cooking at the age of eight.
Sarmah lost her mother at a very young age and since then she learned to cook and with coming age, her passion for cooking grew. Sarmah’s primary goal in Masterchef kitchen was to popularize the dishes from Assamese and Gorkha cultures, on the world stage.
Despite coming from modest backgrounds, Nayan and Santa have made the Assamese people proud with their culinary prowess.
