Bhutan King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and family to visit Assam from Nov 3-5

During his visit the Bhutan King along with the royal family will visit the revered Kamakhya temple and the world famous Kaziranga National Park

The King of Bhutan, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck will be on a 3-day visit to Assam starting November 3. The 43 year-old Bhutanese monarch will be accompanied by his wife, Queen Jetsun Pema, their two sons aged 4 and 8 and an entourage comprising friends and close aides.

Highly placed sources told Northeast Live that the Bhutanese royal family will be in Assam on a private visit. They will visit the Kamakhya temple on November 3, attend a cultural programme to be held in their honour by the Assam Government and then attend a dinner to be hosted by Governor of Assam Gulab Chand Kataria.

The next day on November 4, the royal entourage will leave for Kaziranga where they will spend the night. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will host a dinner in honour of the King at Kaziranga on the same day.
The Royal family will return to Bhutan on November 5. It may be recalled that King Wangchuck had expressed his gratitude to the Assam Government during the peak of the COVID pandemic for providing assistance in different forms to the land locked Himalayan nation.
