NPF’s Mokukchung unit President surrenders after killing one of his employees

In a shocking incident, Moasangba Jamir, President of Naga People’s Front’s (NPF) Mokokchung division, surrendered to the Mokokchung police on Tuesday after accidentally killing one of his workers who worked at his Metsuben Resort.
As per inputs, Jamir accidentally shot one of his workers with a 22 rifle gun to save another worker after an altercation broke out between the two. One of the workers apparently ran to Jamir for help as the other worker was allegedly chasing him with a machete.
To stop the fight, Jamir resorted to firing in the air, but one of the bullets hit one of the workers. The person succumbed to the bullet injury.
The incident took place at the Metsuben Resort in Chuchuyimpang village.
The deceased has been identified as Longshang Konyak, from Longching village under Mon district.
Jamir is currently in police custody.
As per Mokokchung police, they have collected statements from eyewitnesses, and an investigation is underway to find out whether it is a case of murder or an accidental death case.
However, according to information received, police is yet to file FIR.
Moasangba Jamir was the NPF Party’s candidate for the 25 Mongoya Assembly Constituency under Mokokchung district in the 2023 assembly elections.
The postmortem of the deceased will be conducted today.
Meanwhile, the Chuchuyimpang Village Council, the 7 Eastern Tribe Union Mokokchung, ENPO, Mokukchung held a meeting with the Chuchuyimpang Village Council at Metsuben Resort, where the incident occurred. During the meeting, the Council admitted the accused’s involvement in the crime.
The Council clarified that they did not order the incident and expressed it as an unfortunate occurrence, requesting forgiveness for the accused.
