The Gauhati High Court has granted bail to 26 out of the 54 accused in the infamous Silapathar incident that rocked the State of Assam March last year.

However, prime accused in the Silapathar incident, Nikhil Bharat Bengali Udbastu Samanway Samitee president Subodh Biswas has not been granted bail yet.

Earlier, on March 6 last year the activists of NIBUSS vandalised a local unit office of the AASU at Silapathar in Dhemaji. The NIBUSS had also organised a public meeting, followed by a march at Silapathar in Dhemaji district demanding citizenship to all Hindu immigrants from Bangladesh.
