A 2015 batch Indian Administrative Service officer, live-streamed his lectures on how to prepare for UPSC and other competitive exams, apart from uploading a 10- episode series on the subject

After none of the candidates from Meghalaya who appeared for the Union Public Service Commission 2023 civil service exam could crack the exams, Swapnil Tembe, Director of School Education & Literacy, Meghalaya, has come up with a unique initiative to help aspirants do better in the exams.

Tembe, who is a 2015 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, live-streamed his lectures on how to prepare for UPSC and other competitive exams. He also uploaded a 10-episode series on the subject online.

Speaking exclusively to Northeast Live, Tembe said that if one is confident then he or she can crack UPSC without even opting for coaching.

Tembe who won the hearts of people by his various initiatives in moulding the lives of children and youths of the state, shared his tips on how to crack civil service examinations. He said that to prepare for the Civil Service Examination, it is necessary to start early. Regular reading of newspapers and making notes, and is hard work would go a long way in helping the aspirants perform better.

Tembe said, “This exam is the mother of all exams. I have always said this in my career counselling sessions that if you prepare for this exam, all the other exams you can easily crack. That is why if you are looking for any kind of competitive exam, better to prepare for this. This requires a lot of ground work, you can say we have to make the foundation. So what we need to do here is and in fact for the benefit of our youths, one common problem is that they do not have the finances to go to Delhi and all those things, but I have shared that this does not require any coaching, you can do without it also. For the same exact reason, I prepared a 10 episode series on my Youtube channel which is available free of cost for everyone to see. So how to prepare on your own, wherever I go students and youths ask me on how to make preparations. As I cannot answer everyone, I have made those 10 episodes for you all to see.”

Asked the reason why very few youths in Meghalaya sit for such competitive examinations, he said youths from the state lack confidence and think it’s too hard so they don’t approach. He further asked the students to take advantage of the technology and study online. Calling the adaptation of NCERT books by the state government as a game changer, Tembe said the result will be seen in the years to come.
