Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Friday launched a corporate social responsibility (CSR) project of Boeing India and Doctors For You (DFY) in the health sector at his residence in Kohima.

Speaking at the launch event, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio said that the health infrastructure at the time of statehood in 1963 was abysmal, but today it has increased to 771 with various categories of health facilities: DH: 11, SMH: 1, TB & CDH: 2, CHC: 35, PHC: 42, SHC: 1, BD: 2, SC: 577.

Chief Minister Rio said the inauguration of the CSR Project is another milestone, a visionary collaboration that will improve the quality of healthcare with respect to maternal and child healthcare services through the Model Labour Room Project.

He also declared six community health centres (CHC) and primary health care centres (PHC) as part of this initiative, namely CHC Pungro in Kiphire, PHC Angpang in Mon, CHC Tamlu in Longleng, CHC Tuli in Mokokchung, CHC Aghunato in Zunheboto, and PHC Botsa in Kohima, which will be initially taken up for piloting.

“Today, symbolically, the equipment and other logistics of the Model Labour Room to PHC Botsa is handed over” CM Rio said.

“Healthcare is a cornerstone of our governmental policy for Nagaland, with a focus on maternal and child health education and access to primary medical services for all,” he added.

Doctors For You (DFY) initiated the project in 26 states and more than 300 districts, contributing to public health infrastructure development, disaster management, risk reduction, and hospital infrastructure development and capacity building.

Boeing India and Doctors For You (DFY) donated ambulance, Digital X-Ray and Ultrasound machine to 6 CHC & PHC’s subsequently. DFY will assist the government in providing quality, low-cost or free basic health care services to the people of the state through the partnership.

PHC Botswana received 137 pieces of equipment and other logistical items from Boeing India and Doctors for You on this occasion, including a model labour room, an ambulance, and a digital X-ray and ultrasound machine.

In the presence of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, a memorandum of understanding was also signed with the goal of expanding the state’s public health system and strengthening work in the state.
