Violence in Shillong: Fresh cases of violence reported from Shillong. Miscreants try to derail law and order situation.
Three days after the Mukroh firing incident, violence erupted in Shillong, the capital city of Meghalaya. In news just coming in, a traffic police booth at the Shillong Civil Hospital junction was torched and a city bus was attacked by miscreants. The miscreants tried to set the bus on fire near the Civil Hospital junction.
It may be mentioned that on November 22, the day of the Mukroh incident, a private car with Assam number plate was set ablaze near Shillong. No casualties were reported.
Entry of non-Meghalaya vehicles continue to be restricted from Jorabat and Khanapara in Assam.
Reports of fresh violence has come in at a time when Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma and senior ministers of his cabinet are in New Delhi to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Five Meghalaya residents were killed in the firing incident at Mukroh. The people were killed when Assam Police and Assam forest guards had opened fire to disperse a mob that had gathered after the Assam forest guards had stopped a truck carrying timber.
