Chaotic scenes gripped the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Assam’s Biswanath Chariali.

Congress workers in the district created commotion outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office alleging that the election officials did not accept the nomination papers of the Congress candidates in the district, informing that the time for filing nominations is over.

Later, as the situation turned from bad to worse, police had to be called in to forcefully disperse the Congress candidates and supporters from the Election officer’s office.

The time for filing of nomination papers for the upcoming Panchayat polls in the state ended at 5 PM on Thursday.
