NSF Reiterates Its Demand to Terminate Prof Yenisetti; Warns VC Over Inaction at Nagaland University

The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has reiterated its demand for the termination of Professor Sarat Chandra Yenisetti accused of physically assaulting Assistant Professor Dr. Lobeno Mozhui at Nagaland University, Lumami, in 2024.

Addressing a press conference in Kohima, General Secretary of NSF Chumben Khuvung said that they met the Vice-Chancellor of the University on February 20 this year to discuss the matter along with other long-standing issues. The Federation noted that many victims had already come forward in the past to share their experiences related to this professor even before the recent incident grabbed public attention.

Condemning the inaction of the Vice-Chancellor, he stated, “There has been no action initiated by the Vice-Chancellor. We are informed that Prof. Sarat is currently out on bail, and students have reported seeing him within the university campus. Through this press conference, we are informing the Vice-Chancellor that Prof. Sarat should not be seen in the University again.”

The Federation further said that during their February 20 meeting, they had strongly conveyed to the Vice-Chancellor that, even if Prof. Sarat wins the case, the university must ensure that he is not allowed to teach in Nagaland University again.

In addition to this demand, NSF also informed that they have also submitted a request to the Vice-Chancellor seeking 80% reservation of seats in the university for Naga students from Nagaland. The Vice-Chancellor has assured the Federation that the reservation policy will be implemented.
