A non-local staff member of a transport agency in NST Colony, Dimapur, was shot in the left leg by armed miscreants yesterday sparking outrage and fear among those from outside the state.
Dimapur is the commercial hub of Nagaland.
The victim has been identified as Ram Sharma. Soon after the shootout, Sharma was rushed to the civil hospital and is currently under medical treatment.
Nagaland’s Deputy Chief Minister, Yanthungo Patton, strongly condemned the shooting, expressing solidarity with the victim and his family. Patton assured that the state government is committed to ensuring that the perpetrators face the full force of the law and that all necessary measures will be taken to safeguard the people of Dimapur.

Police reported that two perpetrators fled the scene on a motorcycle after the shooting. Police officials are gathering CCTV footages from the vicinity of the incident.

The NST Colony Council condemned the incident, demanding swift action to bring the culprits to justice and ensure the safety of the citizens. They urged the public to provide any information that could aid the investigation.
