Nagaland Cong candidate SS Jamir urges voters to choose secularism, justice, peace and equality

The president of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee, S. Supongmeren Jamir, who is also the Congress candidate for the Lok Sabha Polls, has urged the people of Nagaland to cast their ballots in favor of equality, justice, peace, and secularism. He exuded hope that the voters will choose their decision wisely.

Addressing the media at Congress Bhavan, Kohima today S Supongmeren Jamir, informed that the AICC has directed the NPCC to convey and deliver justice, peace and equality of the state.

Slamming the Modi government, Jamir claimed that the Modi government’s decision to allow the state to form an opposition-less government has overloaded the boats of the sixty elected MLAs, adding that the formation of an opposition-less government has also put Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio in a difficult position.

“The BJP government has put the Indo Naga Political issue on hold with two agreements. With this Naga issue they are playing in a such a way that there should be an opposition-less less government,” said Jamir.

He claimed that the BJP is using another method to further divide the Nagas by hindering a resolution to the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organization issue. He viewed the continuous public emergency as a message to the government that the people have lost faith in them.

Jamir also underlined the consequences of the Citizenship Amendment Bill, claiming that if the BJP returns to power, they will impose the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), which will demolish the country’s secularism.

Furthermore, Jamir urged voters to give Congress the opportunity to stand in parliament and fight for people’s rights.
