In an unprecedented move, the five MLAs of Congress have decided to support the NPP-led MDA government. The five Congress MLAs today met with Chief Minsiter Conrad Sangma and pledged their support to the MDA government.
Ampareen Lyngdoh, P.T. Sawkmie, Mayralborn Syiem, Kimfa S Marbaniang, and Mohendra Rapsang are the five Congress MLAs.
The decision to join the MDA government has been confirmed by Congress MLA and CLP leader Ampareen Lyngdoh.

In the letter to the CM, the Congress leaders stated that the decision has been taken to strengthen the government’s arms and decision making so as to ensure that joint efforts can be made to take the state forward.
While it is not yet clear if there is any approval from the Congress high command in New Delhi, Ampareen Lyngdoh has said that the decision has been taken in the interest of the people.
