Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman launches ropeway from Dhapper to Bhaleydhunga in Sikkim.
The ropeway was launched under the PM-DevINE Scheme. Sikkim CM Prem Singh Tamang (Golay), other senior officers of government of India and Sikkim were present at the launch.
The launch was done via video conferencing by the Union Finance Minister. The ropeway is aimed at further promoting nature and eco-tourism in the state. The project, built at a cost of Rs 209.57 crore with a viability gap funding of Rs 57.82 crore from PM-DevINE, will provide accessibility to the Bhaleydhunga mountain peak.
The project shall help augment the burgeoning tourism industry in Sikkim, that will bring economic benefits not just to established hospitality businesses but all stakeholders and entrepreneurs.
Today, the Union Minister will also interact with the members of the Self-Help Group at MG Marg, after which she will participate in the outreach programme organised by National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) at Chintan Bhawan.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman started her four day Sikkim visit from February 27. The Finance Minister will be in the state till March 2, 2023.
During her visit to the state, she participated in various scheduled programmes. She attended the post-budget interaction and interacted with students of Sikkim University on February 27.
On March 1, the Minister will inaugurate a State Bank of India (SBI) ATM at Lachen in North Sikkim.
She will depart from Sikkim on March 2, 2023.
