Speaking on the Congress-CPIM alliance, he said that the press has hyped up the topic

Tripura Deputy Chief Minister, Jishnu dev Varma on Thursday cast his and speaking exclusively to Northeast Live, the Deputy CM exuded confidence that the BJP will win comfortably in the state.

Responding to allegations by the CPIM over an incident of poll violence in the state, Dev Varma said that one cannot mark the whole process by citing one incident.

“Opposition always looks for an escape route. They always look for a backdoor where they can come out. During CPIM, we have seen poll violence, Dev Varma said.

Speaking on the Congress-CPIM alliance, he said that the press has hyped up the topic.

“The press has overhyped it. Because it is the first time CPIM-Congress has come together in Tripura with one ruling party and one opposition party, we have hyped it up very much,” Dev Varma added.

He also urged both the alliance partners to come out and explain to the people as to why they formed this alliance, adding that Congress and CPIM will have to go door-to- door and explain why they killed so many people of each other.

Dev Varma also referred to both the parties as non-starters.
Meanwhile, replying to Tipra Motha’s challenge for the BJP, the Deputy CM said that Pradyot Debbarma does not know what he wants. Prayot Debbarma started with the greater Tipraland, but he has now come down to the constitutional solution, Dev Varma said.

“They (Tipra Motha) consider assembly constituencies to be ADC constituencies. It is not so. The whole configuration of the ADC and Assembly constituencies’ changes. They do have a role and a support base, but it is very limited. When the Chief of Motha says one day he will not engage in politics, the next day he says he will, and then he says Tipraland and then says no, Tipraland is not required; a constitutional solution is. So what does he want? He doesn’t know what he wants. He started with greater Tipraland, and today he has come down to the constitutional solution. Tomorrow he will come down to nothing,” Jishnu Dev Varma said.

Lastly, replying to Tipraland being a factor among the Tripuri voters, Jishnu Dev Varma said the tribals are emotional and one cannot fool the people all the time. If Tipraland cannot be made what is the question of making greater Tipraland? Jishnu Dev Varma questioned. He also added saying demand based parties we have seen don’t last very long.
